Daphne Joy – Silly, Sexy, Home Cooking
I’ve been a fan of Daphne Joy since I first laid on eyes on her the January 2009 issue of Black Men. Following her Twitter only confirmed that she is a kool chick. Daphne took a moment to answer some of my questions.

What’s on your iPod?
John Mayer- Edge of Desire, Sade- No Ordinary Love, Jeramiah- Imma Star, Mario, Beyoncé, Cascade- Evacuate the Party..I love R&B, POP, & some hip hop.
What do you like to do for fun?
I have the most fun doing whatever, as long as I’m surrounded by really cool, down-to-earth people. It can vary between going to the movies, going to dinner, or doing really active things like hiking, hitting the gym, etc!
How does Daphne Joy ring in the New Year?
Always with loved ones and good liquor, lol!
One thing that your fans do not know about you?
I’m a very humble, very nice person! It really took me awhile to accept myself being considered pretty or sexy; that’s something you gradually grow into, and still at times I’m unsure!
You’ve described yourself as silly, would you share a story or example?
I’m just a very silly person, once you get to really know me. I don’t hold back on my jokes or picking on you. We can be at the grocery store or mall, and I’ll just start dancing in the middle of the aisle and everyone’s looking at me and my friends crazy. Or I’ll just start talking like an English person or turn up my super Asian accent, that one always gets laughs!
What do your remember most about your childhood in The Pacific Islands?
Laid back baby…no pressures, stress free, good food, love, family, familiarity, and very, very warm. I was young so my memories are just bits and pieces. I know I was definitely the wild child running around with unruly hair, screaming, laughing, and causing ruckus!
You love cooking, if you opened your own restaurant what would be on the menu?
OMG you’re killing me! Well I learned cooking from my mom. We’ve actually discussed opening a restaurant in the past. Her cooking is out of this world, something you just HAVE to try to believe!!! It would definitely be a mixture of Filipino/English food. The menu would definitely consist of tons of stews, chicken, beef, fish. I love food. I can’t pin-point each one, or else I’d write a whole essay.
You’ve done magazines, ad campaigns, hosting, music videos, TV and movies, what has been the most challenging for you? Fun?
The challenging part is always trying to be better at the next gig. The most fun would’ve probably been the TV stuff, only because of your interactions with so many creative and talented people. The photo shoots are definitely just as fun.
What was it like being 18 and being cast on Nick Cannon’s “Wild ‘N Out”?
I was definitely the baby of the group. People were always very nice, but kind of considered me like the little sister. The coolest part about being that young and on the show, was that I was still in high school when we were taping and airing the show, so a lot of my classmates got to see me on television. I was always really proud of it!
You said this may be your last lingerie shoot, where should your fans look for your in 2010?
Hopefully, on the tv screen. Acting and hosting have always been my first loves, and I’m so thankful for all the other doors that opened up for me. You can follow me on twitter “missdaphnejoy“, to see what new adventures I find myself at!
Any last words?
Thank you to everyone who has been supportive and has shown me love! Don’t ever, ever doubt yourself, because your hard work WILL pay off!! I’m sending all my love right back at’cha!!! xoxo
